CBI added Amit Shah’s name to my statement on its own: Sohrabuddin’s brother
Nayabuddin Shaikh, brother of Sohrabuddin, in his deposition on the Sohrabuddin Encounter Case on Monday, denied receiving any threatening calls by a politician named ‘Amit Shah’ or that he was offered Rs 50 lakh from the suspended IPS officer Abhay Chudasama to withdraw his petition from Supreme Court. Instead, he claimed, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had spoiled the case by adding statements that he did not know about. He did not show up for the deposition until now despite several summons being sent to his name. He was finally deposed on Monday after a non-bailable warrant was issued against him. After taking the witness box, Nayabuddin described how he was in constant contact with his brother Sohrabuddin before the encounter.

The gang-rape came into light after a month on Sunday when the survivor confided about the incident to her sister and also told her that she was one-month pregnant. The school management when informed about the matter, allegedly tried to cover it up by terminating the girl’s pregnancy. The school’s director, principal, administration officer, his wife and hostel caretaker were arrested for alleged destruction of evidence. A gang-rape and destruction of evidence case has been filed under the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Why didn't UPA go with the Rafale deal then?: Sitharaman slams Anthony
Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday hit out at her predecessor during the UPA tenure, AK Anthony’s allegations that she is ‘suppressing facts’ on the Indo-France military plane, Rafale jets deal. Stating that the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and French aircraft manufacturer, Dassault had not agreed on production terms, the Defense Minister said, “HAL and Rafale couldn't go together. Doesn't that very clearly say who didn't go together with HAL, under which govt did that happen?” She also posed a question for Anthony that if the Congress thought UPA cracked the best deal on Rafale why did not they go through with it. Anthony earlier in the day called the deal a ‘scam’.
