Telangana govt celebrates Rs 66 crore Iftar party admits public criticism  In a lavish series of events, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandshekar Rao held the grand 'Dawat-e-Iftar' event, on Friday organised by his cabinet, worth Rs 66 crore. Attended by prominent personalities from the political circle including Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi, KCR lauded that his state is setting an example in minority welfare. While the budget of the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs is around ₹4,000 crore, Telangana is the only state with a ₹2,000 crore budget for minorities welfare,” KCR told the audience gathered at LB Stadium in Hyderabad. No penalty on excess baggage: Railways 6 days after announcing a new penalty on passengers with excess baggage, Indian railways decided to drop the plan on Thursday. The national transporter had launched a six-day drive from June 1 to check for excess baggage but the decision to strictly enforce the rule to fine passengers up to six times the stipulated luggage weight had led to widespread criticism with people taking to social media to denounce the move. According to railway ministry spokesperson Rajesh Bajpayee, the drive was merely to make people aware of how carrying excess luggage causes inconvenience to other travellers. "It was felt that in the heavy summer rush, passengers carrying excess luggage cause much inconvenience to fellow passengers.
