CBI confirms rape charge against BJP MLA in Unnao case The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has confirmed sexual assault charge against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar in the politically sensitive Unnao gang-rape case. The CBI probe also revealed that the Uttar Pradesh police tried to save Kuldeep Singh Sengar and other accused by not naming them in the FIR and chargesheet, a leading newspaper report said. The CBI has recorded the victim’s statement before a magistrate under CrPC Section 164, in which she reiterated that BJP’s legislator from Unnao’s Bangarmau, Kuldeep Singh Sengar raped her at his home in Uttar Pradesh’s Makhi village on June 4 last year and his woman aide Shashi Singh stood guard outside the room.
