Huge cyber attack hit over 70 nations; Russia, Taiwan among worst hit A huge cyber extortion attack hit over 70 countries on Friday crippling IT systems across hospitals, telecommunication sectors, and other companies after hackers held computer data at ransom in exchange for digital currency bitcoins. The signs of the attack were first visible at Britain's National Health Service (NHS) affiliated hospitals that were forced to shut down or turn away patients owing to a crippled IT network that had become the target of the malware named 'Wannacry'. Russia's interior ministry, Spain's telecom giant Telefonica and US's delivery firm FedEXwere some of the other names in the worst hit category.
