Huge cyber attack hit over 70 nations; Russia, Taiwan among worst hit
A huge cyber extortion attack hit over 70 countries on Friday crippling IT systems across hospitals, telecommunication sectors, and other companies after hackers held computer data at ransom in exchange for digital currency bitcoins.
The signs of the attack were first visible at Britain's National Health Service (NHS) affiliated hospitals that were forced to shut down or turn away patients owing to a crippled IT network that had become the target of the malware named 'Wannacry'.
Russia's interior ministry, Spain's telecom giant Telefonica and US's delivery firm FedEXwere some of the other names in the worst hit category. Eight Asian countries including India were hit although the damage caused by the attack is yet to be ascertained.

India to skip China's One Belt One Road Summit
India will skip China’s One Belt One Road summit beginning in Beijing on Sunday in view of the sovereignty concerns related to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a flagship project of the initiative that will be discussed in detail at the two-day meet.
While there is no official word, informed sources told news agency PTI that India will not take part in the meet, contrary to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi's announcement that India will have a representative at the Belt and Road Forum (BRF), a prestigious initiative of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Triple talaq is 'worst form' of marriage dissolution: SC
Triple talaq is the "worst" and "not a desirable" form of dissolution of marriage among the Muslims, even though there were schools of thought which called it "legal", the Supreme Court observed on Friday.
The All India Muslim Women Personal Law Board (AIMWPLB) had told the 5-judge constitution bench comprising of judges from 5 different religions that triple talaq was not fundamental to Islamic tenets. The court is currently hearing arguments against Triple Talaq.

Sonia Gandhi, Rahul to be probed by I-T department
Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi will be probed by the income-tax (I-T) department regarding the financial transactions involving National Herald, the Delhi high court said on Friday.
Sonia and Rahul who are directors in the firm that will be probed had approached the court seeking quashing of the I-T investigation in connection with the transactions dating back to 2011-12.
The case is based on a private criminal complaint lodged by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and a member of Parliament Subramanian Swamy who has alleged cheating, conspiracy and criminal breach of trust by the Gandhis.

Inflation hits four-month low in April
Inflation rate based on the new wholesale price index (WPI) declined to a four-month low of 3.85% in April from 5.70% in March, according to data released by the commerce ministry and Central statistic's office.
The data also suggests that the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) grew 2.7% in March as against 1.9% a month ago.
