30 children die in Gorakhpur hospital in 48 hrs after disruption in oxygen supply Around 30 children died in Gorakhpur’s BRD Medical College on Friday after a private firm contracted in supplying oxygen cylinders allegedly withdrew over non-payment of outstanding dues to the tune of Rs 67 lakh, media reports said. Most deaths were reported from the neonatal and encephalitis wards, media reports added. However, the state’s Director General of Medical Education, Dr KK Gupta, denied reports that oxygen supply in the hospital had stopped and claimed “BRD medical college has a gas plant as well.” The hospital is in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur, the consitutency of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
