Red alert in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka post Cyclone prediction in Arabian sea

The Indian meteorological department on Thursday issued a high alert for heavy rainfall in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka due to a storm forming in the Arabian Sea. A red alert was declared for October 7 in three districts in Kerala- Idukki, Palakkad, and Thrissur. Moreover, in Karnataka, there is an expectancy of heavy showers in the coming days.  Deputy Director General of Meteorology S Balachandran advised fishermen to not venture into the sea from October 6-October 8. Due to the sudden change in weather, a holiday was announced for schools in five districts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry.

7 Rohingyas deported to Myanmar after SC refuses to intervene

Seven Rohingya Muslims who were caught and jailed in India since 2012, on charges of illegal entry, were deported to Myanmar from Assam on Thursday after the Supreme Court dismissed the plea to stop it. The seven were handed over at Moreh, a town on the India-Myanmar border in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district in Assam. Advocate Prashant Bhushan had asked for an urgent hearing of a PIL to restrain the government from deporting them. However, the three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi rejected the plea saying that the seven were found as illegal immigrants by the court earlier and that Myanmar is also ready to accept them as their nationals.

Chanda Kochhar resigns from ICICI Bank CEO Post

Star female banker Chanda Kochhar has stepped down from the position of CEO and MD of ICICI bank on Thursday with immediate effect, media reports quoting people close to the issue said. She had requested for an early retirement earlier in the day and her plea was accepted by the bank. Kochhar will also quit the board of ICICI bank subsidiaries. Meanwhile, Sandeep Bakshi has been appointed as the chief operating officer, MD, and CEO for five years in her place. Bakshi had taken the reins of the system since June on a temporary basis after Kochhar was asked to go on a forced leave amidst investigation about her involvement in favoring her husband's firm in providing loans.

1 dead, 5 injured after acid container falls from under construction Metro site in Delhi

One person died and five were injured in Delhi on Thursday after an acid barrel fell from an under construction site near Shiv Vihar metro station. The incident took place when a motorcycle was passing underneath the station and the chemical fell on the rider as well as the other passersby. According to DMRC, the incident has nothing to do with Delhi metro as there is no work in progress which requires chemical usage. The police have registered a case while the injured people are being treated at a nearby hospital.

100 arrested after protests in Gujarat over rape of 14-month-old baby

The Gujarat police have arrested at least 100 people for protesting and creating havoc over the rape of a 14-month-old-baby over the last two days. Total 11 FIRs were filed against the protesters for damaging properties, other assets and for unlawful gathering. Since the last two days, people were carrying out candle marches and observing bandh in various places in Gujarat. The protesters’ main demand is to hang the accused who is a migrant worker and hails from Bihar. The protesters were supported by Thakor Sena and Sardar Patel group. The gruesome incident took place on September 28 when a 14-month-old baby was raped by a migrant laborer in Sabarkantha. Later on, she was admitted to a civil hospital in Ahmedabad and currently, her health is in stable condition.
