Mehbooba Mufti's PDP to boycott local polls over Art 35A
Days after the National Conference (NC) party led by senior leader Farooq Abdullah declared that they with not participate in any local polls in Jammu and Kashmir, former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti also announced the exclusion of her People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday. Following the footsteps of Abdullah, who had said that the boycott will go on until the Central government and the Supreme Court decides on the matter of Article 35-A, Mufti also expressed similar feelings. Addressing a press conference in Srinagar, Mufti said, “We will go to any extent to protect Article 35A" while adding that the people Valley are viewing it as an ‘assault on the special constitutional status of the state.’ The Article 35A in the Constitution bans outsiders to buy immovable property in Jammu and Kashmir.

Interpol issues Red corner notice for Nirav Modi's sister
In fresh trouble for fugitive billionaire businessman Nirav Modi, global crime watch body Interpol on Monday issued a red corner notice against Modi’s sister, Purvi Deepak Modi who is of Belgian citizenship. The notice issues against her name, describes Purvi being an accused on charges of ‘money laundering’. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) which had moved the request for the notice, emphasized that they want Purvi help to track the whereabouts of her brother. Nirav Modi, is accused of laundering Rs 13,000 crore off the Punjab National Bank (PNB), along with his uncle Mehul Choksi. Purvi has been held accountable for corruption in the Brady House, Mumbai branch of Modi’s jewellery brand. With the notice issues, Purvi can now be apprehended in any of the 192 countries that are members of the Interpol.

Bombay HC grants relief to cops in Sohrabuddin encounter case, upholds discharge
The Bombay High Court on Monday discharged the petitions that challenged the discharge of senior cops who were alleged in the encounter case of alleged Gujarat gangster Sohrabuddin Sheikh, upholding the verdict given a special CBI court in 2006. The petition moved by Sheikh’s brother Rubabuddin questioned the discharge given to former Gujarat DIG DG Vanzara, IPS officers Dinesh MN and Rajkumar Pandiyan, while two were moved by the CBI against Rajasthan Police constable Dalpat Singh Rathod and Gujarat Police officer N K Amin, among others. The case pertains to 2005 when Sheikh was eliminated along in police custody with his wife Kausar Bi and Sheikh’s aide, Tulsiram Prajapati. Hearing the case, Justice AM Badar said he would not let the defence take advantage of anybody turning hostile.

Delhi welcomes 'doorstep delivery' service; Kejriwal calls it historic
The Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal government in the national capital on Monday unveiled the much-awaited doorstep delivery service that would enable the residents of Delhi to receive around 40 government services at their homes. Calling the launch a ‘historic day’ Kejriwal said, “People only got pizzas delivered to their house but now you can call to the government at 1047 and they will send a ‘Mobile Sahayak’ to your house to get your work done.” The services will reportedly cover a variety like Passport registration papers, marriage certificates, identity card, driver’s license among others. Kejriwal further asked the media to report any problem related to the scheme within 10-15 days so it can be worked upon.
