Nirav Modi is in United Kingdom, authorities confirm
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday announced that fugitive diamond merchant accused in the Rs 13,000 crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud, Nirav Modi is currently in United Kingdom. The presence of the billionaire jeweler who has been on the run since January this year, was confirmed by global crime watching body Interpol, a report by Business Standard said. "We have sent our extradition request to the MEA (Ministry of External Affairs) and soon, we would be handing it to UK authorities," an CBI official was quoted by news agencies. Earlier, in July co-accused and Modi’s uncle Mehul Choksi was located in Caribbean country of Antigua and Barbuda, afer he had acquired a citizenship of the country.

Case filed against Sidhu for hugging Pak Army Chief
In fresh trouble for Punjab Congress minister and cricketer turned politician Navjot Singh Sidhu, a case was filed against him for hugging Pakistan Army chief during the oath taking ceremony of Pakistan’s new elected Prime Minister Imran Khan. Khan, with whom Sidhu shares a bonhomie since their cricketing years, on being questioned said he had visited Pakistan on personal capacity and not with a political view. The complainant, lawyer Sudhur Ojha filing the case in Muzaffarpur's Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court posed charges of sedition on Sidhu, citing he has ‘hurt the emotions of the country.’ The court has scheduled the hearing for the case for next week.

Jharkhand: 2 girls gang raped by 11 men sent by a friend
In a horrific incident reported from Jharkhand on Monday, two girls were allegedly gang raped by 11 men who were sent by a friend they had called for help after their two-wheeler broke down. The victims, accompanied by a male neighbor were travelling in the Hirhi Harra Toli area when their motorcycle developed a problem. The girls then called a friend for help but he sent the accused. All of the accused, ranging from age 18 to 28 years,beat up the neighbor while taking the girls in an isolated spot and took turns to commit the crime. Arresting the accused, Superintendent of Police Priyadarshi Alok said that a special task force will be set up to investigate the case.

Controversy erupts over PM Modi's congratulatory letter to Imran Khan
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated his Pakistani counterpart, cricketer turned politician Imran Khan for winning the recently held general elections and assured that, India is committed to create good relations with them. Addressing the media after taking oath as a cabinet minister on Monday, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said, “India and Pakistan are not only just neighbors but also an atomic power.” However, controversy erupted when Qureshi claimed that PM Modi pushed for talks with Pakistan, while the India government, as quoted by national news agencies said no proposal of such nature was kept by PM Modi.

Separated families of South-North Korea meet in three-day reunion
In a historic reunion of the North and South Korea on Monday, several separated families met after almost 68 years of separation since the Korean War of 1950-53. According of CBS, almost a dozen South Korean families mostly consisting of elderly members crossed the ‘heavily barricaded frontiers’ to reach North Korea, as part of the three-day reunion program organized by the government of both countries. As per ABC News, ‘about 90 elderly South Koreans, accompanied by their family members will have three days of meetings with their North Korean relatives before returning to the South on Wednesday,’ Seoul's Unification Ministry said.
