Maharashtra Child Rights commission slaps Rahul Gandhi with charges under POCSO
The Maharashtra state commission for child rights protection on Tuesday issued a notice against Congress President Rahul Gandhi over the video he shared of two Dalit minors being allegedly harassed by upper caste men. The video in question posted by Gandhi on June 15, 2018 showed two boys stripped off their clothes, being beaten for allegedly taking bath in a well belonging to the upper caste community. The state commission has charged Gandhi under section 74 of the Juvenile Justice Act and Section 23 of Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act as for ‘disclosing the identity of boys.’ The Congress has defended its President in reply by saying the content of video and not the identity of those featured, is the larger issue.

BJP-PDP alliance ends in bitter divorce, Governor to decide further course
The 3-year-old BJP-PDP alliance in Jammu and Kashmir was called off on Tuesday after the Bharatiya Janata Party took the first step in ending the tumultuous partnership, leaving Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and her party in the lurch. Addressing a press conference, BJP's Ram Madhav who was flanked by local party leadership confirmed the decision. "Keeping the larger interest of India’s sovereignty, we felt Governor’s control was necessary over the state," Madhav said. Hours later People's Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mehbooba Mufti submitted her resignation to the Governor and hit out at her former ally. "We are not shocked at their exit as it was not for power. Our alliance had bigger motives like a unilateral ceasefire, PM's visit to Pakistan, withdrawal of cases against 11,000 youth,” she said while addressing a press conference. Mufti also added that she is not ‘exploring an alliance with any other party.’ The government in the militant-hit region continues to be in question as leader of PDP’s rival party National Conference’s (NC) Omar Abdullah also ruled out a possibility of his party forming a government. “People should be made to decide on the future government. We have full trust in Governor (Narinder Nath Vohra) that he will take a decision in the interest of the people,” Omar told media agencies. Congress leader and ex-CM Ghulam Nabi Azad also hit out at the alliance terming it a ‘Himalayan blunder,’ while adding that they will not be joining hands with the PDP._______________
