It was Sachin’s mother, leaving her loss aside, who urged the cricketer to go back and finish the World Cup. Even Sachin knew that his father would have wanted him to do the same. So he returned to England and did what he does best, playing cricket. As expected, he was greeted by a standing ovation on the ground and not only did he scored a century, but he went ahead to score 140 runs in a mere 101 balls. The nation grieved with him when he looked up in the sky after finishing his 100 to thank his father. India won by 94 runs in the match. We did not win the world cup, but Sachin surely had won the hearts of millions of people.
18 years ago, he left behind his personal sorrow and went on to win for his country, with utmost dedication. Even today, people still believe that if Cricket is religion, Sachin is God. His simplicity, sincerity, and hard work has earned him the admiration and respect of the world.
On his 45th birthday, the nation salutes a living legend who is selfless in his love for the nation and his profession. Any father would be honored to have a son like Sachin Tendulkar, the man who made cricket the game it is today.
