IndiGo President Aditya Ghosh quits, Rahul Bhatia to take interim charge
President and whole time director of India’s biggest airline company IndiGo, Aditya Ghosh announced the news of his resignation from his post on Friday after 10 years of association. While Ghosh will effectively leave the office on July 31, IndiGo’s promoter Rahul Bhatia will take charge as the interim CEO. “For the last ten years, it has been a relentless, exhilarating and a most satisfying task building IndiGo,” an IndiGo statement said, quoting Ghosh. In recent times, Ghosh’s role as President was marred by controversy as IndiGo came under the scanner for incidents of disciplinary breach and staff arguing with passengers.

Seven school children were stabbed to death and 12 were left injured after an man attacked them on Friday in China’s Shaanxi province. The male attacked identified as a 28-year-old Zhao was immediately taken under police custody and was believed to be victim of bullying in his school days, which triggered him to commit the crime, according to news reports. Among the deceased were five girls and two boys, aged around 12-15 old as they were middle schoolers. Off late, mass stabbing have become a common criminal activity in China. This year itself in February a man had killed a woman and injured 12 in a Beijing shopping centre.

In a new development to the gang rape and murder of an 8-year-old in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua case, caused Sanji Ram on Friday admitted that he had planned that murder after learning that his son had raped and abducted the minor. The Jammu police, who are investigating the case said the girl was kidnapped on January 10 and first raped on the same day by Ram's nephew, a juvenile. As of now, the police charge sheet names Ram and another compliance Mannu with murder, kidnapping and evidence destruction while Ram’s son, nephew and SPO Khajuria have rape included in their list.

The Congress party on Friday released their manifesto for the upcoming elections in Karnataka calling it the state’s version of ‘Maan Ki Baat’. Agricultural issues and farmers distress got a major chunk of attention in the party’s agenda, with plans of changes in the manufacturing sector also being marked out. The manifesto also talked about to “make IT as an important driver of the state economy by increasing IT contribution from the current USD 60 billion to USD 300 billion”. Dubbing the plan as a lie, BJP IT cell chief, Amit Malviya on social media said $300bn is 9.6 times of the Karnataka state budget, which is approximately S31bn’. Karnataka is all set to go on polls on May 12, 2017.

People should be proud of my achievement, rather than belittling it,” she said adding that she is hurt by Kumar’s words. Kumar, on Thursday had sparked controversy after he called the beauty pageants a ‘farce’ for giving the title to someone like Hayden. The minister further said that Aishwariya Rai is a true Indian beauty with characteristics of Goddess Lakshmi and Saraswati.

A Bhopal court on Friday asked Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg to appear before it after a businessman claimed that the company had sent him a legal notice over the name of his start-up. Swapnil Rai, who runs a business networking platform called thetradebook.org, had filed a civil suit, claiming that Facebook stopped his advertisement campaign that promoted his website’s page. The businessman added the social media company is harassing him and causing him stress, media reports said. The court has issued summons to Zuckerberg, and asked him to appear in the Bhopal court on 20 June.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Friday formed a two-member panel to investigate the reason behind the sudden mid-air nosedive of the flight carrying Congress President Rahul Gandhi. Media reports had claimed that a technical failure related to the autopilot system had led to the Delhi-Hubli bound (Karnataka) flight carrying Gandhi to drop down by almost 500-meters on Thursday morning. The DGCA had claimed that it conducts a proper inspection of all the VVIP flights and the same was done for Gandhi’s flight but a failure in the autopilot mode of the flight could be a reason for the ‘snag’. The Congress, meanwhile filed an FIR on Friday with the Karnataka police, alleging ‘intentional tampering’ and claimed that there was a threat to the Congress President’s life. The DGCA team is expected to give a detailed report on the issue within three weeks.

According to media reports, AIIMS Delhi or PIG, Lucknow will be conducting the test. A potency test is done in rape case to establish whether the accused is physically capable of raping someone or not. It also makes the accused case weaker in court, in case false claims are made on impotency. The CBI’s custody on Sengar ended today and he has been shifted to Unnao District jail, under the custody of Uttar Pradesh. The CBI will appeal for extension of Sengar’s custody in Special CBI court, on next working day.

The Maoists have suffered a major setback in recent times with series of encounters in Maharashtra and Chattisgarh. Last Sunday, over 35 Naxals were killed in a major encounter at Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra. Following the encounter, the CRPF and the police in theneighboringg districts are on a high alert. Large number of CRPF personnel were seen moving all over tribal hamlets and carrying out search operations. The police suspect that the Naxals were trying to take revenge following the Gadchiroli encounter and planning to hold a meeting in the forest area.

The official communication channel of the royal family made the announcement at Kensington Palace read, "The baby will be known as His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge." According to media reports, the name honours the Prince’s grandfather Prince William and great grandfather Prince Philips mentor Louis Mountbatten. The royal baby born on Monday is currently fifth in line to the throne, after his siblings Prince George, 4 and Princess Charlotte aged two.

Maharashtra grants land ownership rights to refugees who fled to Pakistan
70 years after fleeing from Pakistan, refugees in Maharashtra were granted land ownership rights on Friday as part of a wider push to give more rights to certain refugee groups in different parts of India. About 30 lakh refugees from the Sindh and Punjab provinces in Pakistan are believed to have fled to India, as carnage between Hindus and Muslims sparked a massive migration post the British colonial rule in 1947. Refugees in Maharashtra were housed in about 30 government-owned "camps" or colonies across the state, with limited rights to sell or redevelop their homes. "Now they can sell, redevelop and mortgage the property in which they have been living for more than six decades," chief minister Devendra Fadnavis told reporters.____________________
