North Korea fires 'ballistic' missile, Trump says 'will take care of it'



North Korea fired an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), the first one in two months and it landed close to Japan, confirmed officials. The missile was fired a week after US President Donald Trump put North Korea back on a US list of countries that Washington says support 'terrorism'. Japan’s Kyodo news agency, quoting the defense ministry, said there were no reports of any damage. In the initial assessment, Pentagon spokesman Col. Robert Manning said the missile that was launched from North Korea’s Sain Ni did not pose a threat to the US, its territories or allies too.Maggi fails quality test, fined for 62 lakhs

Maggi fails quality test, fined for 62 lakhs 



Maggi makers Nestle and 6 of its distributors in Uttar Pradesh are fined a total sum of 62 lakhs in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. Samples of the snack were found sub-standard in Uttar Pradesh. Apart from the ₹45 lakh fine imposed on Nestle, the Shahjahanpur administration has also imposed a fine of ₹17 lakh on the six distributors of the company, making the total ₹62 lakh. The lab test results found that ash content in Maggi was found to be more than double the permissible limit. In 2015-2016, Nestle India had suffered huge losses and faced a ban following failure of Maggi samples in Bara Banki district.

7th Pay commission: Center doubles deputation allowance 


In a relief to 48 lakh central government employees, the department of Department of Personnel and Training has doubled their deputation (duty) allowance on Tuesday. In case of deputation within the same station, the duty allowance will be payable at the rate of 5% of basic pay subject to a maximum of Rs 4,500 per month. And for deputation, involving change of station, will attract allowance rate of 10% of the basic pay subject to maximum of Rs 9,000 per month. Currently, duty allowance stands at Rs 2,000 per month for deputation within the same station, and Rs 4,000 per month involving change in the station.

Will not allow Hadiya to meet husband: college Principal 


Hadiya's guardian and school Principal on Tuesday said that he will not allow Hadiya's husband to meet her. He clarified that her parents had admitted her in the college and only they have the right to meet her. He also mentioned that she will continue studying under the name Akhila, unless she follows the due procedure to change her name in the college.

TRAI backs recommendations in support of Net neutrality 


The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Tuesday, while said it was not in favour of any "discriminatory treatment" with data, including blocking, slowing or offering preferential speeds or treatment to any content. In 2016, Department of Telecommunications had sought TRAI's recommendations on net neutrality. Trai has also dealt with the issue of differential pricing of data access.

S durga not to be screened anywhere: CBFC 



In recent developments in the S Durga case, the CBFC has banned the film from screening anywhere till further notice. Apparently, in their explanation, the CBFC has mentioned that the makers have violated a few rules and regulations. The Censor Board has even asked the team to submit their film once again for reexamination. Earlier, International Film festival of Kerala had agreed to screen the movie in the next month.

Supreme Court rejects plea to ban ‘Padmavati’



The Supreme Court on Tuesday said that there will be no ban on “Padmavati”. It also added that "those holding public offices should not comment on such issues." The judges said that it is the duty of the national censor board to review the film and make a decision on whether it is suitable for screening. Makers of the movie further said that they will not screen the movie anywhere in the world before the CBFC nod.

Hafiz saeed applies to UN to remove his ’terrorist’ tag


Lashkar-e-Taiba co-founder and 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed has filed a petition in the United Nations (UN), asking to be removed from the list of designated terrorists on Tuesday. He was put in the list on December 10, 2008 by the United Nations Security Council after the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. Since 2010, 56 out of these 78 such applications were approved by the UN. Saeed, under house arrest since January 2010 was released last week.

Centre to review high ‘flight-cancellation’ charges: Reports


Soon the airlines may reduce their expensive ‘cancellation charges’ on flyers. The government said the Rs 3,000 cancellation fee charged by a few airlines on domestic tickets is too high and needs to be reduced. It will soon talk with the airlines on the issue and ask them to strike back to a reasonable amount.

Netflix, the internet entertainment service has currently partnered with former UTV boss Ronnie Screwvala, to exclusively premiere his new film ‘Love Per Square Foot’. The film will be the first mainstream production from India.
