Sensex, Nifty halt 3-week gains, close flat
After advancing weekly for 3 weeks, Indian Indices halted gains and closed flat on Friday. The 30-share BSE Sensex was up 24 points at 31,687 and the 50-share NSE Nifty gained 4 points at 9,934. Pharma and auto stocks were the biggest losers of the day, who erased gains by the biggest gainer Larsen and Toubro ( L&T), which advanced more than 4%. Bombay Dyeing shares have zoomed more than 100% in a month, with trading for rupees 80 per share on August 8, it closed on 156 rupees on Friday.

Mosanto sells its Cotton Business in India
US based
company Mosanto is selling its cotton seed business in India to Hyderabad based
company Tierra Agrotech, media reports said on Friday. But it will remain invested in other
farming segments such as corn seeds, crop protection, vegetables etc. This
exit from India will help the company to get its regulatory approval for its
merger with Bayer. Monsanto recently pulled out of several markets in a bid to address the
regulatory concerns over the merger. In India, Mosanto is currently facing
problems due to price controls and tougher scrutiny under India’s competition
laws.

Pakistan's largest Pvt Bank kicked out of US with a $225 million fine
Pakistan's largest private bank Habib which has been operating in the United States for the past 40 years has been told by the
United States to shut down following allegations of terror funding, media reports said on Thursday. The department of financial
services said that it is the first time it has ordered a bank to shut down in
the US. The investigation found that the bank facilitated billions of dollars
in transactions with a Saudi private bank, which had links to the Al-Qaeda. It
had also maintained a good-guy list, to waive through at least $250 million in
transactions with no screening at all. The top names on this list were a
Pakistani terrorist group, an international arms dealer, and former Deputy
Prime Minister of Iraq under Saddam Hussein.

Poultry prices rise by 30% post as demand rebounds post bird flu scare
According
to poultrybazzar.com, prices of poultry have seen a sharp 30% increase over the
past one month, a Business standard report said on Friday. The report has cited fall in consumption owing to the recent bird flu scare. The authorities had removed the
livestock which resulted in a supply crunch in the market. The stock could be
restored within a year. After hitting to a record level of rupees 100 per kg in
July, broiler chicken prices declined to rupees 40 per kg later in the month.

Delhi HC orders to stop Patanjali advertisement mocking Dabur
Days after Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurvedic brand was asked to stop
its soap commercial by the Bombay and Delhi High court, the company was on Thursday has been asked to stop its new Chyawanprash commercial for mocking its rival Dabur, which also sells the same product. Apart from this,
Dabur India, which claims to be the largest manufacturer of Ayurvedic products
in the country, has also asked for a damage of rupees 2.01 crore from the
