Wreckage of IAF chopper that went missing in Arunachal found, Crew dead


The wreckage of the Indian Air Force chopper that went missing in Arunachal Pradesh during a flood relief operation yesterday were found in the Pampunpare district of the state on Wednesday, media reports quoting officials said. 
The chopper was reportedly travelling with three crew members, all of whom are presumed to be dead.

Communal clashes in West Bengal, Army Deployed in North 24 Paraganas

Communal clashes erupted in Baduria, Basirghat, West Bengal, on Wednesday following an objectionable Facebook post leading to several road blockages as unruly mobs destroyed several shops and police vans, media reports quoting officials said. Hours after the violence was brought under control the Army was called in and the curfew was imposed in the region, the report added. Earlier, the state government ordered closing down of schools and shops and banned internet facility to keep the violence in check. Around 300 paramilitary troops were deployed in the affected areas even as a war of words erupted between West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and the Governor, Kesari Nath Tripathi.

Jammu and Kashmir passes GST


Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Legislative Assembly, the only state which was yet to make a final call on the Goods and Services Tax (GST), on Wednesday finally passed the resolution. On Tuesday, J&K coordination committee had called for a protest against the Goods and Services Tax (GST) implemented by the Centre on 1st July over certain issues regarding the bill. Earlier, most of the shops and other business establishments in Srinagar were closed. However, the state government had called for a meeting on July 4 to resolve the crisis.

Laptop ban on flights to US from Abu Dhabi, Istanbul lifted

The United States (US) on Wednesday lifted the in-cabin ban on electronic devices in US-bound flights of Emirates and Turkish Airlines from Abu Dhabi and Istanbul airports, with immediate effect. In March, the US banned the electronic devices larger than a smartphone in all the flights to and from eight nations (mostly Muslim), based on intel inputs that terror organisations may conceal bombs in them. The latest development comes following the enhanced security measures introduced by the US on 29th June which were accepted by both the airlines. These measures are said to affect around 3, 25,000 passengers daily on 180 airlines across 280 airports around the world.

Registrations for Ed Sheeran’s Mumbai concert begin on BookmyShow


Musician cum singer Ed Sheeran is set to rock the stage in Mumbai yet again in November this year at the Jio garden in Bandra-Kurla Complex. Tickets for the ‘thinking-out-loud’ star’s event would will be available for sale from 12th July. While regular tickets are priced at 4,750 rupees, gold tickets are available for 8,000 and diamond tickets for 12,000 rupees each. Sheeran will reportedly promote his latest album “Divide”. He last performed in India in 2015 at Mahalaxmi Race course.
