Air India lifts ban on Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad

Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad, who assaulted an Air India employee following which he was grounded by domestic airlines for over two weeks, finally found reprieve after the airline lifted the ban on him.



Gaikwad in a letter to aviation minister Gajapathy Raju had expressed regret and sought relief from the ban citing hindrance in performing his constitutional duties.

Gaikwad, however, refused to apologise to the senior official of Air India.

64th National Fim Awards Announced


The 64th National Film Awards were announced on Friday with Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar winning the best actor for his role in 'Rustom' and 'Airlift' and Malayalam filmstar Surabhi Lakshmi winning the best actress award.



While Marathi film 'Kasaav' was named the best feature film of the year, Sonam Kapoor starrer 'Neerja' based on the life of cabin crew attendant Neerja Bhanot won the best Hindi film of the year award.

Sonam Kapoor's depiction of Neerja found a special mention by the jury who also hailed Malayalam superstar Mohanlal's performance in Pulimurugan.

KKR thrash Gujarat Lions by 10 wickets


Kolkata Knight Riders chased down a seemingly decent score of 183 posted by the Gujarat Lions to beat them in their own den in Rajkot.

Without losing a single wicket the opening duo of captain Gautam Gambhir and Chris Lynn chased down the total in style thereby making their team serious contenders for the season 10 title.

Earlier, Gujarat Captain Suresh Raina made a fighting 68 (not out) while Dinesh Karthik chipped in with 47.

Truck attack in Sweden kills 3, Many injured


Three people were killed and dozens injured after a truck drove into a crowd near a shopping centre in Stockholm, Sweden on Friday.

Swedish PM Stefan Lofven later confirmed that all indications as per preliminary investigations point to a terror attack.

Swedish authorities later released a photograph of a man in a hoodie who is the prime suspect captured on video surveillance cameras near the Drottninggatan department store where the "terrorist attack" took place.

Fake stamp paper scam convict Abdul Karim Telgi on ventilator support Abdul Karim Telgi, who was convicted for masterminding a fake stamp paper scam, is in a critical condition at a Bengaluru hospital, since Monday night, said media reports. The 56-year-old was admitted to Victoria hospital with meningitis, confirmed his lawyer MT Nanaiah. Telgi has been in hospital for a week, and was put on ventilator support after a multi-organ failure, media reported. Telgi was arrested in November 2001.
