Aadhar can't be Mandatory for Social welfare schemes:SC
The Supreme Court on Monday said that the government can't make Aadhar card mandatory for citizen seeking the benefits of social welfare schemes although it can press for the document during the time of I-T declaration.
The court made these observations while hearing a batch of petitions expressing concern over privacy issues owing to availability of biological, personal and banking details of citizens that are shared at a large scale.

SP leader backs Gaikwad, terms Ban by airliners as 'Dadagiri'
Days after Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad was blacklisted by airlines including Air India for thrashing a senior staffer, SP leader Naresh Agarwal backed the Member of Parliament and termed the ban as 'Dadagiri.'
Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathy Raju however termed the ban necessary for the safety of the passengers even as Sena MPs and partyworkers backing Gaikwad protested against the airliners decision.
Replying to the MPs, Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan sought an amicable solution to end the deadlock.

Madras HC directs Arrest of Man who Claimed to be Jayalalithaa's son
Madras High Court on Monday directed the Tamil Nadu police to arrest the man who claimed to be the son of late chief minister J Jayalalithaa.
The court said that the man J. Krishnamurthy, who claimed to be the son of actor Shoban Babu and Jayalalithaa has not only cheated the court but also forged documents to lay claim on the late CM's properties.

Rajasthan Woman burnt to death for Protesting Against Cutting of Trees
A 20-year-old woman was set ablaze in Jodhpur district of Rajasthan on Sunday for allegedly protesting against cutting down of trees in her village farm.
The incident occured in Pipda city when the victim, Lalita, objected to chopping down of trees in her farm for the construction of a village road, a media report said.
Police have arrested 10 people including the village head in connection with the case, the media report added.

India are close to wining the fourth and final Test against Australia at Dharamsala on Tuesday after their bowlers plotted the second innings collapse of the visiting Kangaroos on Monday.
At the end of day's play, India were 19 for no loss in their second innings, just needing another 87 more runs to win the tie and the series.

Thousands evacuated as Cyclone Debbie hurtles towards Australia
Thousands of people including tourists were evacuated on Monday as northeast Australia prepared to brace for a “monster” cyclone packing destructive winds.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, the cyclone is expected to make landfall as a category four storm (on a scale of five) mostly after daybreak on Tuesday.

Trump's Son-in-law to be Questioned Regarding Russian Ties
US President Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner will be questioned by the Senate Intelligence Committee as part of its investigation into Russia's role in the 2016 election.
An official privy to the developments confirmed the New York Times report that Kushner who assisted Trump during the poll campaign will be examined in the probe over ties between Trump associates and the Russian officials.
Kushner will be questioned regarding two meetings with Russian officials in December 2016.
