Jio extends Prime Membership Subscription Deadline to April 15
Extending the deadline for purchasing Jio’s Rs 303 (and other) plans till 15th April, Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. on Friday announced that in just one month, over 72 million Jio customers have signed up for JIO PRIME, making it one of the most successful customer privilege programmes anywhere in the world.Announcing the Jio Summer Surprise for its PRIME members, the company added that every JIO PRIME member, when they make their first paid recharge prior to 15th April using Jio’s Rs 303 plan (or any higher value plan), will get services for the initial 3 months on a complimentary basis.
Customers who could not enrol for JIO PRIME by 31st March can still do so by paying Rs 99 along with their first purchase of Jio’s Rs 303 and other plans till 15th April.

New simplified ITR form introduced, E-filing to start from April 1
In a bid to make filing of income tax returns hassle free, the government on Friday notified a simpler, one-page form for the purpose while making it mandatory to quote Aadhaar number and disclose bank deposits of more than Rs 2 lakh post-demonetisation.
The previous 7-page form for Income Tax Return (ITR) has been replaced by Form-1 (Sahaj), removing a plethora of columns on deductions from the income claimed.
Sahaj particularly seeks details of cash in excess of Rs 2 lakh that was deposited in bank accounts in the 50-day post-demonetisation window.
Interestingly, only six crore out of 29 crore persons having PAN file income tax returns at present.

Indian student attacked in Poland, Sushma seeks Report
An Indian student was attacked in Poland's Poznan city on Friday, media reports said without clarifying the exact reason behind the incident.
Several reports claimed that the victim has died following the incident although there was no clarity over the issue.
Reacting to the news, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said that she has spoken to the Indian ambassador about the matter and sought a report from the authorities.
In February, an Indian engineer Srinivas Kuchibhotla was shot dead in a hate crime in the United States.

Petrol, Diesel Prices Slashed
Petrol and Diesel prices have been slashed by Rs.3.77 per litre and Rs.2.9 per litre respectively.
The new rates will be effective from midnight of Saturday.
The three state-run oil marketing firms – Indian Oil Corp, Bharat Petroleum Corp and Hindustan Petroleum Corp review retail fuel prices periodically and usually revise them every fortnight.

Bars, Pubs, Restaurants can't serve Liquor on Highways: SC
Supreme Court on Friday upheld the liquor ban on state highways that was suggested by it on 15 December 2016 and also clarified that the ban extends not just to retail outlets but also to bars, pubs and restaurants.
The court, however, relaxed the rule a little and reduced the no-liquor zone in local areas with a population of 20000 or less from 500 m to 220 m.
